Heidi Marie Faessel is a multidisciplinary artist based in Whitefish, Montana. Her recent work includes abstract paintings and sculptures made from everyday and salvaged materials, exploring themes of impermanence, transformation, and interconnection.
Raised primarily in Southern California, Faessel earned a BFA in textile/surface design from the Fashion Institute of Technology/SUNY in New York City. She worked as a textile designer in the home furnishing industry before moving to Montana in 2002, where she transitioned to graphic design while raising her two children. Faessel has received grants from the Montana Arts Council and her work has been exhibited in a variety of galleries, museums, not-for-profit, and alternative art spaces across Montana.
Heidi’s process unites experimentation, imperfection, and exploration, with deliberate and considered editing. She is driven by the spirit of discovery and finds deep satisfaction and unlimited potential in the creative process.
